Leaving Oriental — finally . . .

Sunset on Whittaker Creek.

Sunset on Whittaker Creek.

After an 11-day hiatus back to Annapolis, the journey continues, albeit with a solo crew. Julia is staying back for the time being to deal with her ailing mom.

Delta blues was berthed at Whittaker Pointe Marina for the last 12 days. They took great care of her in our absence. It’s a nice facility with new docks, friendly slipholders, bikes to ride and a courtesy van which I used Friday night to drive to a nearby marina to have dinner with Rob and Bob of Kindred Spirit. Beautiful facility at River Dunes and a very tasty dinner in their clubhouse.

Shoved off at 9:40 a.m. into a beautiful, bright, warm day with a slight breeze. The ride down Adams Creek and the Adams Creek canal was quite nice. Went in tandem with five other snowbirds.

Tonight's anchorage just inside Beaufort inlet.

Arrived at anchorage at 1 p.m. Anchored just inside the Beaufort inlet near Fort Macon State Park. Nice day, though I miss my co-captain, especially since today’s her birthday. (dj)
